Triple E smoothes the way for Snow White

UK - Scene transitions as Snow White flees the evil clutches of the Wicked Queen are smoother than ever at Portsmouth's Kings Theatre this Christmas thanks to Triple E's pioneering SDRIVE system.

Magical track solutions specialist Triple E launched the SDRIVE motorised curtain track system - a simple, lightweight, 'plug and play' motor for ERAIL - in the wonderland surroundings of the Kings Theatre in September and generously donated the first SDRIVE off the production line to the historical theatre as part of the restoration efforts.

"With Snow White keen to keep up her pace to escape the Wicked Queen, we knew the SDRIVE system would be a great help," says Triple E's managing director David Edelstein. "SDRIVE is fast, practically silent, and almost invisible - a winning combination that every heroine needs to survive. As she moves from scene to scene, SDRIVE enables swift curtain movements to help the whole production run smoothly and maintain momentum."

The Kings Theatre's press manager Mike Williams agrees: "I'm delighted that we now have this motorised track from Triple E - the smoothness of the action is absolutely brilliant. The previous manual one we had was 50 years old and was really coming to the end of its days. With the theatre's future really now established, Triple E will be a part of it for many years to come."

SDRIVE was designed as a result of demand from the industry and for a budget motor aimed at smaller venues. It's easy to specify and easy to install, and is designed to motorise both straight and curved systems.

"I can't believe how lightweight the track is, and how much quieter it is," says Pat Saunders, technical manager at Kings Theatre. "Previously, we had the clunk, clunk, crash of the curtains moving, but now the movement is virtually silent. It's going to make my work a lot easier."

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is showing at The Kings Theatre 12 December - 6 January
